So I've had a hard time keeping up with my blog. For me writing isn't so easy! If I was to post only an image or two I feel like it's kinda pointless ya know!

I was at Image Quest last weekend, it's a photography conference in Richmond. I came away with alot of really valuable information. I learned about about my business. I can't wait to start putting these things into use and making my business the best that it can be FOR ME! :) Because of this you will be seeing a bunch of amazing changes as I grow.

Trash The Dress Winner :: Megan Biagioni

Hello Everyone :)

I just ran a contest that offered all woman to enter who wanted a FREE Trash The Dress session. This was a fun way to learn a bit about you and then in turn I emailed all the entrants a COUPON! And lemme tell you it was a once in a life time opportunity to get that good of a deal! So thank you all so much for taking the time to write to me!

It was incredible hard to choose as i felt there was about 4 stories that REALLY touched me and struck me with passion! However, Megan's was the one that hit me the deepest. "August 2, 2008 [Wedding date]
I have always wanted to do something like this! I have seen many sessions on facebook of friend's that have done a trash the dress! So amazing to put that expensive dress on that you only ever get to wear once! I love love love my dress and it is currently sitting in my crawlspace :( My husband, Matt, has had to work 12 hours away in Dawson Creek. He was laid off the same month we had our daughter, Peyton, Septemeber 2009. He spent quite a few months waiting for that \"perfect\" job to pop up and it never did. When things got really tight, I made a call to my Alberta extended family, and Matt left to do production testing for the rigs 3 days later. He left the morning after our 2nd anniversary and comes home every 4-5 weeks. This is sooo hard on us both with a busy 16 month old in the picture! He misses us so much, and we miss him every day. His week home is never long enough and there are always tears in the airport when he has to leave. I would LOVE to surprise him with trash the dress photos! And of course decorate more of our walls with Jodie Lemke art work!!! Please please please consider me in your trash the dress session give away!!!! Thank you soooo much Jodie for the amazing work you have already done for us!

:: Project 52 :: 3 - Thumb sucking~

This is my boy. Tyson. He's just turned 5! I can't even believe it! Then i see him sucking his thumb and i remember hes still my baby. ;) He started this habit right from the get go! There was no stopping him. We tried everything. Thumb out, sucky in, thumb out sucky in... Then we tried Putting a sock on his hand, he learned to suck right through that sock.... We finally gave up!

But NOW WHAT! hahaha. He's gotta stop this by kindergarten... right??? I mean the poor kid is going to get teased! Got any good ideas??

Its so hard because I look at him, and I love him more than life it self and see his innocence, as soon as he takes that thumb outta his mouth..... All kinds of crazy things fly out... Girlie screams, whinny humbles, goofy giggles, sometimes I even get a kiss on the cheek ;)

Anyways I love this kid. He's my little man.

My kids are pretty much in love with the Wii Mario Kart Game Tyson got from Christmas! He seriously kicks me and Derek's butt every time!! I have to tell you in comes in handy when i need to get some work done! haha. This is the first series of images that I've taken with my new Canon 5D II. I am so thrilled but need to get out of the house to use it! It will be coming with me tomorrow on my Newborn Session!! Babe is 2 weeks old now but its still going to be fabulous! I can't wait to meet him.

Today I had the privilege of shooting this amazing couple and soon to be Mommy & Daddy at God's Mountain Estate. This location is breath taking. Quite simply a gem in the South Okanagan. I met Sarah, the owner, this past week and was so delighted by her kind and generous spirit! Thank you so much for having us today. I really look forward to coming back soon, hopefully in the spring for sure! (If you know any couples looking for a gorgeous intamite wedding location...look no further!) My husband and I are planning to say at the bed in breakfast for a weekend getaway this summer! (they have a ROOFLESS room!! how romantic!)

:: Project 52 :: 1 - Lego!

My oldest son Tyson just had his 5th birthday ( 9 days after Christmas!!) He now has a TON of Lego! His new favorite toy!
Truthfully I was a bit worried... All these little pieces, he has a little brother (21 months old) and I really wasn't' sure how that would all go over! But honestly, I've loved every minute! Lucas loves watching him and Tyson has done a great job sharing his now to "special sets" And me, I especially like building all the sets! His little fingers aren't quite coordinated enough to build them himself yet so I get the pleasure of being a kid again! BRING ON THE LEGO!

This is Tyson's newest and most favorite set. Its a Camper. The back swings open and allows space for eating and sleeping! As I type this he is playing on the floor, putting the "Hunny" (wife) to sleep in her bed! "Off we go", he shouts, as the Husband zooms them across the kitchen floor!

It's 2011!! My New Years Resolutions!

WOW~ It's here! *2011*

I thought I would Quickly Post about what is to COME! I have a few Business related New Years Resolutions as well.

1. I will be investing in a new camera! I can't WAIT! Canon 5D Mk II. This not only means WAY better quality but also an opportunity for me to grow even more. It also means I will finally have a BACK UP Camera! Ya. I can't believe I've gone this long. Not smart I tell ya ;)

2. I will be BLOGGING more! I want YOU to get to know ME :) I figure this is a great outlet. I am no writer, that's for sure, but I can't wait to see this part of myself grow too!

3. Project 52 :: I want to take 1 Photo Every week. Still working on which day of the week. But these photos can't just be a quick snap shot. The goal is to learn more about my camera gear and to feel more comfortable in any situation. Each Photo will be Blogged and open for Comments/Review!
4. For all my AMAZING Wedding Clients. You now have the option of a PHOTO-BOOTH! Yup. You heard me! before I leave for the night I will do a 45 minute Photo-booth that your guests can come and have some fun and memorable photos taken. These can be used for a Guest book, Thank you cards, scrapbook! And many many other fun ideas! This is starting at an introductory price to add on to any wedding. Ask me for more info!

5. I want to keep growing and learning. I am so blessed and thankful for the opportunity to do what I love so much! My goal is just to keep LOVING it, LEARNING, and having FUN.

First of all, a huge THANK YOU goes out to all my amazing and easy going clients. I can't tell you how amazing this year has been. I feel like I've successfully attracted the types of clients I want to work with. "Fun", "Relaxed", & "Fresh" :D

IT WAS SOOOO Hard to pick and I know that I missed ALOT!

Looking back all the years work I am so proud to see a change and a growth in my work! 2011 is going to AWESOME! I can't wait to work with all of my new and repeat clients this coming year! Something i was so excited to look back at this year was some clients who i photographed their engagement, wedding, Maternity and Newborn sessions. What a joy it is for me to watch a family grow, its a real honor.

I look forward to surprising you with improved work and some exciting new ideas for 2011. Thank you all for being such amazing support as I follow my dream, and grow as a Photographer as well as a person. (Age really does bring more wisdom ;)

I have one more Wedding for 2010, December 31st. I am so excited to see how it all unfolds. A beautiful couple and a gorgeous venue!

Take a look at this gorgeous Mama!

Steph was awesome! It was a beautiful snowy and COLD day yesterday! But in order to get the shots we wanted she toughed it out! And it was very much worth it!! A beauty couple locations too!
I absolutely love the beauty of a belly. The unborn child inside and capturing the mama that is carrying him/her. In this case there is a beautiful little miss inside! We can't wait for her Arrival in January~

This past week I have been tending to my very sick little boy, Tyson. He's almost 5 and this is his first time with the Flu! Its on day 4 now and we FINALLY got some medication! I hope it all ends soon! Tomorrow we plan to ride the KVR Christmas Train! I can't wait!!

Advent Calendars

My son Tyson was thrilled when I showed him his advent calendar this year! We've discovered the very cool LEGO Advent Calendar! This is the first year he's been interested in Lego. Every day you get a new little lego toy. A snowman. a Piano. a figure. a skateboard & ramp. very cool! Anyways, we spent 2 dayas at Apex mountain resort this past weekend (which for us is Sunday/monday) Tyson was so upset we forgot the calendare at home! Every morning he gets so excited. "Mom today is December six!!" lol Ya so this was not good.. bad mommy for leaving it behind!! I had hoped that the Tobogganing and hot chocolate would help him to forget... but nothing did ! haha. Once we got home though he was thrilled to get to open TWO doors at once! ha. SEE... I knew what i was doing! ;)

Oh another note. I was blessed to photograph a cute little family while I was up at Apex! These two little men as super adorable!! Enjoy a few little teasers! 25 Days of Christmas.

Hello All.
I am excited to be blogging more often! I vowed to myself this year that I would *TRY* to blog more so that you could get to know me on a more personal base. I am honestly no good at writing(or spelling! I'm sure you've noticed!). I find myself struggling to make these long enough, so I've decided that I will be a short blogger :D I am also hoping that more of you will keep stopping back and leaving feed back, encourage me along the way!

So for the month of December I've decided our family will be doing "The 25 days of christmas" The whole idea for me is to find ways to bless others around us where it's those who are in great need or those in our neighborhood or church or school or work. Where ever! Also I want to find things to do that are special with my boys. (Tyson will be 5 in January & Lucas is 1.5 years old) I am so busy the rest of the year that I want to make them a priority this month! This means working less. ;) (Sorry all, I will be back in the swing of things for January. I felt this was super important to do for the family.)

SO here are a few ideas I have!

1. Make a christmas card for a special family member.
2. visit the Live Nativity at in Kelowna.
3. make paper snowflakes
4. Bake a pie for someone in our church.
5. Deliver flowers to an unsuspecting person.
6. Make Apple Cider for the postman.
7. Go for a family walk in the snow and then make snow angels.
8. Go skating at Apex mountain and have Hot Cocoa!

But I would SOOOO love for you to give me other ideas! Do you know any great needs in Penticton area? Do you have any ideas for me!?

This is my first year doing this but I am SOOOOooOOOooo Excited!! Cans for Comments has come to Jodie Lemke Photography's blog! I'm Thrilled to be doing this, and you’ll love being a part of it. Let me fill you in on the details below:

Cans for Comments is a canned food drive where you and I get to partner together to donate canned goods to The Salvation Army, Penticton's local food bank. The success of the drive relies on two things:

You leave comments on any and all blog posts

For every comment on my blog within the given time frame, I’ll donate one canned food item directly to the Salvation Army. All you have to do is comment. It’s super easy and really fun, and in the process, I hope to get to know who you are, which is awesome for me! Comment as many times as you like. Tell me about yourself, tell me what photos speaks to you, tell me how much you love sushi, ok maybe that's just me ;)… or anything else you wanna share!

The last Session for the Season!

Well all! Today I shot my last two sessions of the year! (Though I just remembered I do have a Maternity & Newborn session, but thats not for a while!) I am so excited that for the month of December I will be with my family. JUST a mom! I hope to get all my editing caught up by the 5-6 of December! I am very much looking forward to the holidays and celebrating a holiday that is so special to me!

Well My First session was inside! Little Miss "R" was adorable. I hadn't seen her since her newborn photos a year ago! I can't believe how much she's grown!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Little Miss!!

My second session was OUTSIDE! ACK! I know! It was a very very very cold day today! I had so much fun though! This family were troupers! Enjoy a little teaser from their outdoor session!

Fresh little 'L' :: Penticton Newborn Photographer

I was so privaleged to work with Ry-Ann & Thomas. Meeting their new bundle of joy was a fun & relazing expierence! We had some very yummy natural light plus I used my studio lights for some too! :) I think its safe to say I LOVE THEM! They worked very well, I am really starting to get the hang of them!

I won a mini photo session to celebrate my daughter's first day of school. Jodie took amazing photos that captured the sparkle of both our girls, even some family poses. We have hundreds of digital snaps trying to grab the moments that she successfully snapped with a quick 20 minutes in the park! I spend more time than I should browsing through her sneak peeks of people I don't even know, in awe of her eye for detail and a great picture. I had my maternity photos taken by Jodie Lemke Photography. It was my third pregnancy and I felt the need to document it as I hadn't had much time to embrace this pregnancy. I was so thankful and delighted with the outcome of my pictures. It brings me to tears when I look at them. Everything I wanted, plus a little more.

My sister and I had a mini shoot with Jodie in July, as a present to give our parents for their 35th anniversary, and so my sister could see Jodie in action (who was booked as her wedding photographer). It was a very relaxing experience - we were free to offer suggestions, and Jodie gave us lots of feedback for poses and kept us laughing at lot. My sister's wedding in September was another example of Jodie's professionalism and upbeat attitude. The day started off with more rain than we anticipated, so we had to change our photography locations at the last minute. Jodie did an excellent job of being able to adapt and give us amazing photos. She also managed to coral 5 very rambunctious groomsmens into getting some excellent photos. I would hire Jodie in the future for all my photography needs! Great Job!! :)

What can I say about Jodie... I honestly have no idea where to start, except to say that she is absolutely AMAZING!!! We came to Jodie to have our first family photos taken and we were so happy. Integrity.

Well today I quickly address the backbone of my business. Integrity.

Too often today I see photographers, or people in any business for that matter, that have zero compassion or integrity. Seems like business is cut throat and people are just plain mean. We think its just kids that can be bullies but really, I see it ALL the time in our relationships as adults. Recently a friend was the victim of it. It makes me so sad.

I read an amazing blog post today by J*, a huge inspiration for my work. Check it out here.

We all have options. To do what we love. To ignore those who push against us. To live life and be HAPPY. There will always be people in our lives that want to wreck that. But we have to 1. brush it off and 2. Move forward with strength.

I have had ALOT of people knock me down. It hurts.. I can't say it doesn't, but I have learned that you can't please everyone. Just do what you LOVE to do. Be the BEST you can be. The People will see that are the only people you want to hire you anyways! I thank God everyday for his hand in my work.

For me. I will keep on truckin. Cause I LOVE what I do and the people I work with! I don't have to be the best photographer in Penticton, I just want my integrity.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

So we all know that I am not very good with Blog posts! I am not a writer that's for sure!! But I really love the idea of sharing a bit of ME with my clients! My goal over the winter is to get busy blogging and getting into a routine of it! Also I want to do a blog maker over!!! We'll see!

In the mean time. What are YOU Thankful for? I can't begin to tell you how blessed I feel. God's given me so much, and blessed my business so much. I am amazing clients and couldn't ask for more! This is one of the main things I am Thankful for this year season.

Of course I am so blessed to have amazing family. Without them this business would not be what it is. My husband is my biggest cheerleader and my best friend. I can't thank him enough for all his support as I work work work... and then am up late every night editing! I love you Derek! Of course my kids are my inspiration. they keep my laughing and smiling and always wanting to be better. better mom, better wife, better photographer! Gosh... just writing it makes me overwhelmed!

Thank you all for being so awesome and for supporting me as my business, knowledge and talent grows!

FAQ :: What you need to know!

How should I get my retainer fee to you (50% of session fee)?
*I will email you the Contract & Model Release form for you to fill out and sign then please mail this and the retainer fee to me @ #103-398 Nanaimo Ave West, Penticton, BC, V2A 1N7.
Remember, the retainer is NON-REFUNDABLE. This hold your date and time, in case of poor weather we will work together to change the date. I often have a few other spots that work and am flexible to help find something that works for us both.
(Gift Certificates are non refundable and have a NO CASH VALUE written on them.)

What Payment Types do you accept?
*Cash, Cheque, Email Money Transfers, Money Orders. Sorry No Credit Cards

Who Chooses the Location?
*You do! Because I am a Natural Light/On Location Photographer I shoot outdoors 99% of the time. There are a few times (ie. newborns or winter Smash The Cakes) where I will do indoors, however I do not have a studio so I would be coming into your home to do these with my studio equipment.
For outdoor locations I would love to offer my suggestions if you need them! Popular locations include: Munson Mountain, Skaha Lake Park Area, Okanagan Lake by the SS sicamous, Rose Gardens, Japanese Gardens, Summerland Gardens, Linden Gardens (Requires fee to enter client will cover), 1912 Building in Kaleden, Sanoka Beach in Trout Creek, Downtown Penticton, . Also a playground can be fun with kids. I also love Vineyards and Orchards, alot of winery's allow you to come in and take photos too which is FUN! Even your own backyard can serve as a wonderful and personal location! I have more remote locations if you would like something different, just email me for more ideas! :) I am always finding new locations, and LOVE suggestions too!

What Should I Wear and what props to bring?

*Family Session- Wear something you feel comfortable in, something that makes you feel comfortable, and not posed. Avoid matching.. Jeans and white shirts ect... It's nice if you all want to wear Jeans but then choose different colored tops that coordinate. Avoid lots of pattern. It's often best to have a solid color. Lastly, DON'T STRESS! haha Just be you and R-E-L-A-X.
Feel free to bring anything to interact with your kids, a book, bubbles, bicycle, ball, (wow lots of B's!) you name it. Try to make this session personable and about YOU as a family.

*In saying that you don't need ANYTHING. You can just come AS IS and we can make the shoot fabulous!*

*Engagement Session- Make sure you wear something that makes you feel gorgeous and confident. I also want you to come with something that you share between you. It could be hockey jerseys, Wine and to glasses, a bicycle, a really cool old car, guitar, anything that screams YOU! I have lots of ideas but I want this session to be personable. They are now 60-90 minutes long. Bring TWO outfits each. A casual one (Jeans, cute shirt) and something more classy/dressy/vintage/sexy.
You can choose two locations for this session. I just want to get out and have FUN!!!!

*Maternity Session- Be comfortable! Feel free to bring a change of clothes. I don't suggest a dress as we can't get any shots of your belly this way! Seems lately lots of mama like jeans (even if they need to be unzipped!) or Leggings with long shirts/sweaters and boots! I love it when you bring things with you like, scarf and mittens, ultra sound photo, a pair of baby booties, whatever your heart desires!
Remember you want to remember how special this moment in time is. Take the time to make yourself feel great! Pregnancy is beautiful! Pamper yourself!

*Newborn Session-

Parents- This is the time I suggest neutral colors or white or black tops with Jeans or black pants. If you can have bear feet or same colored socks as your pants.Mom, be comfortable :)

Babe- In the nude is the best! :) If you want a photo with an outfit on we can try for that at the end. But I really prefer you to have babe in only a diaper when I arrive wrapped up in a blanket. REMEMBER Baby needs to have been AWAKE before I come. Try to make sure you stimulate them so when i arrive they are tired! Also, make sure to wait to feed them until JUST before I arrive! Another awesome tip that seems to work wonders is give your little one a bath before I come and then feed him/her! They usually sleep soundly after that!!
We can stop for feedings too if need be but this way we can hope for better sleeping babies. A full tummy= A sleepy newborn!

How long does it take to see a Teaser from our session?
*I usually have a max of 5 (8 for a wedding) teasers up for you within 24-48 hours! I can never wait :) I love to look at them when i get home!

When will our Disc be ready?
My editing time line is 3 weeks from your session date. I do my very best to keep to that.

How Many Images will I get?
*For a full Portrait Session its between 20-25 images at high resolution.
*For a Mini Portrait Session it's 8-10 images at high resolution.

Where should I print my images?
*I suggest London Drugs. I have also heard Costco does a great job. Please don't go to cheap printing places and then get disappointed in the images, they don't print the same quality and their colors are often different! I can also order for you through my printing company however these are alot more expensive but worth it if this is an image you want to have hanging for a long time :) (email to inquire)

Phil & Chantal :: I Do

The day was beautiful , sunny and warm! I couldn't have asked for nicer, more beautiful people to work with. They so fit with my style of photography and with my work flow! :) It was very very relaxed and super fun! It helps that they surrounded themselves with amazing friends and family members. You both are super blessed to have such great people in your lives!

After the ceremony that was held at the Penticton Ramada, we made a quick stop at Canadian Tire ( Where they both met and work!) then we headed off to a rustic barn and then to Dirty Laundry Vineyards for the formals. How AMAZINGLY beautiful is that winery! Wowzer. If nothing else go for the experience. Its gorgeous! Thank you all for being such troupers. walking all over the place. Though the great reward was finishing with enough time to do a wine tasting :)I have to say a highlight was the DELISH Chocolate fountain waiting back at the reception. Yum!

Thank you both for including me in this very special day. I was honored. Enjoy your extra long teasers, as i wanted to showcase a full day!

I had the honor of taking Michelle Regner's Family photo's today! What a sweet little boy they have! We went out to my "secret" location ;) haha. (kidding..its not really secret anymore) The sunlight was super yummy and glowing. It was wonderful! i love pictures at this time of day!

Kris & Edna :: I DO

My first Sunday wedding! Kris & Edna asked for a second photographer for there day so I had the pleasure of having my friend Michelle Regner along side me! Her website is currently down so i have linked you to her Facebook page. She will have some sneaks up soon too.

It was a BLAST! Minus the 35+ degree weather! yikes!

After the Ceremony we rushed back to the parents house so we could let Kris catch a few minutes of the FIFA world cup game! Then off to 3 different locations for wedding photos! It was a very busy day!!! From the old railway bridge in OK falls, the 1912 buiding in Kaledan back to Munson mountain! We got some very wonderful pictures! I can't wait to hear what they think!

It was also neat to see how Edna & Kris were blessed with a group of family and support persons travel all the way from Uganda! I took a large group shot to capture how blessed the both were with all the guests who came out!

It was my pleasure to be part of this wonderful day and once again congratulations! Your love is very apparent and I wish you both the best!

Today I Decided a full blog post was in order! I there was just so much to say!

I met up with Phil & Chantal, who i am doing their wedding in September 2010. They wanted to get a few Engagement shots as well as a few family too :)

I tried out a new Top Secret location. LOL ;) It was so very fun! and hot... eek...I figured by 630 it would have been alot cooler.. nope.

My Dad has always been my "Hero". I'm a TRUE "Daddy's Girl".

He is someone I can totally look up too and follow by his example. His courage and strength never ceases to amaze me! My whole life he's been the gentle spirit I could go to when I needed to cry and have a big hug, and then person I could call for that practical and real advise when I didn't know what to do.

He's put up with so much! I look back to when i was a teenager! Yikes! I pray my kids don't follow those foot steps! haha. I'm so glad he and my mom knew how to love unconditionally.

Dad & Mom you are my best friends. I never imagined how blessed I could be, not only to have such amazing parents, but also amazing FRIENDS!

I had the honor to be part of Iain & Alli's Wedding today and it was so much fun! Alli looked stunning, which lead poor Iain to be all over his new bride! It was so cute to see! These two are so in love and as someone said tonight, we often get scared of love, but these two are not at all afraid. They are embracing every moment.

Props to Alli's mom, who made Alli's Dress, the bridesmaids, the Grandbabies, are her own! Plus she fixed up her yard and got all the food organized! This woman is outstanding!! Wowzer! I couldn't believe it!

After some very very long hours of reading and trying to decide how to choose, I am so very thrilled to be offering a FREE shoot the Annick and her Family. Her entry touched my heart very much and I am so thrilled to share it with you:

Hi there!
I would looooove to get a free session to capture some casual images of our family...

Our little girl Maelyn was diagnosed at 5 months with a VSD (ventricular septum defect). It is a hole between the bottom chambers of the heart. Her hole was 25mm long which is pretty big when you think that your heart is the size of your fist... Her heart had to work really hard and fluid was leaking into her lungs as a consequence, but she is a fighter! She had to have a heart surgery at Christmas to repair a hole in her heart, she recovered like a champion. Other than her scar, you can't tell now what she's been through! She is now such a happy and thriving little girl. After a few challenging months for us, it is such a blessing to see her healthy and active and I would love to capture her smirks with the family, turn a new leaf and start the spring on a positive note!
